Best Seasonal Cocktails for October

For this edition of seasonal cocktails, we’re rocking the triple P - Pomegranate, Prickly Pears, and Pumpkins. Makes for a Practically Perfect installment sure to warm up the coldest of October nights.

Pomegranate

Want to start experimenting with beautiful, festive cocktails for the holidays? The bright pomegranate, in puree, juice or simple syrup form, is just what the bartender ordered.

Pomegranate Rum Cocktail

Pomegranate, rum and club soda make for a fresh, colorful cocktail sure to brighten up any gloomy fall day.

Pomegranate Martini

This is an adaptation of Oprah’s famous Pomegranate Martini, make with orange liqueur, vodka and pomegranate juice. I would never say it’s better than something Oprah created because I don’t want to be struck by lightning or anything like that, but it’s delicious, fresh and fragrant and sure to make the upcoming holiday season totally festive and bright.

Prickly Pear

Prickly pears come in a handful of different colors and flavors, but opt for the ones with the bright pink flesh for the tastiest (and most festive-looking) cocktails.

Cactus Fruit Cocktail

Cactus Fruits are just another name for prickly pears. Mix them with triple sec, tequila and lime juice and you have a glorified margarita that takes you seamlessly from summer to fall.

Prickly Pear Cocktail

Combining the sweetness of the pear with the earthy, smoky flavors of the mescal make for an electrically eclectic, beautiful and flavorful cocktail.

Pumpkin

Forget the cliché pumpkin beer, these pumpkin cocktails take it up a notch from a creative standpoint and basically make for boozy, drinkable pumpkin pie. Sign. Me. Up.

Pumpkin Pie Martini

Pumpkin puree and homemade pumpkin pie caramel syrup, mixed with vanilla vodka. If you weren’t in the fall spirit yet, you will be after a couple of these.

Pumpkin Pie Gin Sour

You wouldn’t normally think “pumpkin pie” and “gin sour” would go together but that’s what makes this fall cocktail, make with homemade pumpkin butter, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, so so so special.
