Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with Nueve Boozy Desserts

May 2, 2018

How off-brand would it be if we didn’t do a post completely devoted to Cinco De Mayo desserts? Well you don’t have to wonder because here it is.

Whether you are genuinely celebrating the Mexican army's victory over the French on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla or just looking for a fun reason to drink your weight in margaritas, Cinco de Mayo is a great way to celebrate delicious traditional Mexican desserts and an even better way to celebrate delicious Mexican BOOZY desserts.

Here’s how we’re doing it:

Margarita Pound Cake with Tequila Glaze

The only thing that tastes more like a margarita in a bite is our margarita cake ball with sea salt. But I digress. This citrusy pound cake has a sweet tequila and sugar icing with lime, salt and sugar topping to give it just the cutest pop of green. Forget salt around the rim, I’ll take salt around a cake any day.

Tequila Lime Cheesecake Bars

Boozy, creamy cheesecake spiked with both tequila and orange liqueur (Cointreau triple sec to be specific) and topped with a lime garnish. Forget Cinco De Mayo this is an every day kind of treat right here.

Strawberry Margarita Cream Filled Donuts

So cute! If a donut can be cute, this is a super cute donut. The sweet, creamy (and cute!) pink strawberry margarita pastry cream makes this a home run but then it goes a step further with a strawberry margarita frosting with strawberry jam and tequila. Good for breakfast, good for dessert, good for right now.

Mojito Watermelon Pops

Stepping away from both tequila and lime here with these two-layered popsicles- a mojito layer made with rum, mint leaves and simple syrup, and a watermelon layer made with citron vodka, watermelon juice, and agave nectar. They’re so bright, colorful and definitely summery but they’re so refreshing you’ll want them all year round.

Chocolate Churro Hearts with Boozy Salted Dulce de Leche

Chocolate Churro Hearts with Boozy Salted Dulce de Leche- so many great words combined expertly to make for quite a delicious (and romantic apparently- thanks, hearts) version of this classic Spanish treat.

Strawberry Margarita Jello Shooters

The best part of this bite sized little treat? No clean up! The “shot glass” here is a hollowed out strawberry which is then filled with strawberry, tequila and triple sec jello. Apparently “so stinking cute” is a theme in this post secondary to Cinco de Mayo because come on these are adorable.

Kahlua Flan

Sweet, jiggly, caramel-y and boozy flan made with Kahlua coffee liqueur, sweetened condensed milk and sugar. So simple yet so elegant, and so… jiggly.

Rum-Spiked Tres Leches Cake with Mango Mint Garnish

The rum and mango mint combination in this boozy tres leches cake make for a perfect superhero duo. The three milks (hence “tres leches”) are regular milk, sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk and it makes for the most moist, light and fluffy dessert that you have to bake it in a springform pan to keep it together once it’s out of the oven. So worth it.

Frozen Strawberry Margarita Pie

Book-ending this post right back where we started- with a classic strawberry margarita dessert. This frozen treat gets a fun twist with a salted pretzel crust and tangy mascarpone cheese, tequila and lime zest filling.
