Mardi Gras: T-Minus 3 Days. You ready?

February 10, 2018

Celebrations for Mardi Gras started in New Orleans as early as the first week of January this year, so that means 1) I’m going to start looking at apartments in NOLA because they know how to party, and 2) I need to make up for lost time. Luckily I found some New Orleans-inspired boozy desserts to help me catch up as early as tonight.

So here are some quite literal ways to make “Fat Tuesday” last past the one designated day.

Mini Boozy King Cakes

Lime flavored vodka and a candy surprise in the middle of these mini boozy King Cakes make them fit for a (piper, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and) a king.

Bourbon Bread Pudding

Bread pudding is a traditional New Orleans dessert and adding bourbon to it just makes it even more New Orleans-y than ever.

Martha Stewart's Beignets

Okay so this doesn’t actually have alcohol in it but this wouldn’t be a post about New Orleans or Mardi Gras if it didn’t contain a classic beignet recipe. (It is actually the official state donut of Louisiana). Consider dunking them in some Coffee Creme Liqueur (or eating them with our Coffee Creme Liqueur cake ball) to get the boozy element.

Boozy Mardi Gras Cupcakes

These adorable Mardi Gras cupcakes have greek yogurt and whole wheat flour so they’re totally healthy, amiright?
